How Text Messaging Works

SMS opt-in · giftmax.app

GiftMax (giftmax.app) sells personalized digital greeting cards and invitations. A buyer chooses a card, writes a message, optionally attaches gift money, and pays. The person they are sending it to receives a private link that opens the card.

The buyer chooses how that link is delivered: email or text message. This page describes exactly how consent is collected before any text message is sent, what those messages say, and how to stop them. No account, login, or purchase is required to view this page.

How consent is collected

Step 1

The buyer selects a card at giftmax.app and reaches the details form.

Step 2

The buyer enters their recipient's name and a delivery destination. One field accepts either an email address or a mobile number.

Step 3

The moment the buyer types a mobile number rather than an email address, a consent checkbox appears directly beneath the field. It is unchecked by default. It is shown only for phone delivery — a buyer sending by email never sees it.

Step 4

The buyer cannot proceed to checkout until the box is checked. If they attempt to continue without checking it, the form blocks and highlights the box in red. No text message is ever sent unless this box was checked.

The exact screen the buyer sees

This is a live, non-functional replica of the consent step as it appears in the app, with the identical wording:

To *
Sarah Miller
Their email or phone *
(415) 555‑0142
Email or phone — either one works

Replica of giftmax.app → select a card → details form. Unchecked by default; required before checkout.

The messages we send

GiftMax sends one transactional message per gift or invitation purchased. There is no recurring series, no marketing, and no promotional content. Sample messages, exactly as sent:

Daniella has extended an invitation: https://giftmax.app/g/4b71de03 - GiftMax. 1 msg per invite. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help

Messages are sent as plain SMS text. The message body is translated into the buyer’s selected language; the brand name, the link, and the STOP instruction are present in every version.
