GiftMax sells digital greeting cards that you personalize and send to someone you care about. Each card costs $3.99 (or the equivalent in your selected currency). You may optionally attach a monetary gift for your recipient; when you do, the gift amount plus a money transfer fee of $2.99 + 4% of the gift amount is added at checkout, all in a single payment. Your recipient claims the gift money through their private gift link, to a bank account or debit card. Cards are delivered digitally — no physical product is shipped.
All payments are processed securely by Stripe. GiftMax never sees or stores your card number. The charge on your statement will appear as GIFTMAX.
After purchase, your recipient receives a private link to open their card online. You also receive the link on your confirmation screen so you can share it yourself. If your recipient hasn't received their card, first check the email address you entered, then contact us — we'll make it right.
Gift money is held by Stripe, our payment partner, until the recipient claims it from inside the card. To claim, the recipient confirms their identity with Stripe (legal name, date of birth, address and, in the United States, the last four digits of their Social Security number) and chooses where to receive the money: a bank account or debit card in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Switzerland, or the European Economic Area. Money is paid out in the currency of the recipient's bank; where a currency conversion is needed, Stripe converts at its published rate. Payouts usually arrive within two business days of a completed claim.
Identity verification is required by law for anyone receiving money into a bank account; GiftMax never sees the details the recipient gives Stripe. If Stripe cannot verify a recipient, or the recipient does not have an eligible bank account or debit card, the gift money cannot be paid out — in that case it stays with the gift and the refund terms below apply. Money gifts are not currently offered in Australian dollars or Mexican pesos; cards in those currencies are card-only.
A recipient who has claimed before may be offered a one-tap claim to the account they used previously. Recipients can always choose a different account instead.
You may choose to have your card delivered by text message instead of email. If you do, you must first confirm — using a checkbox that is unchecked by default and required before checkout — that you have your recipient’s permission to text them. GiftMax then sends one transactional text message to that number containing their private gift or invitation link.
We do not share, sell, or provide mobile phone numbers or SMS consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. A full description of the opt-in flow, including the exact wording shown at checkout and the exact messages we send, is on our text messaging page.
How we handle your information — including our text-messaging practices — is described in our Privacy Policy.
